A unique journey for every student with Utah Online School

The key to helping your child achieve academic success can be summarized in one word: flexibility. A study published by ResearchGate in July 2023 found that flexibility is an “important factor in enhancing students’ well-being and learning.”

For high-achieving students to take into account busy extracurricular schedules, flexibility is crucial. Take Annabelle Shaw, a seventh-grade student at Utah Online School, as an example. She believes that online education is the key to unlocking potential.

Since joining UOS, Annabelle’s diversity in music, mathematics, business and fences has flourished. Not only did she flourish academically, she also performed well in competitions around the world. Annabelle’s achievements clearly show how the flexibility UOS offers supports students with diverse interests and demanding timelines.

This is how UOS helps her achieve her goals – and how it helps your child.

The rising stars of music and mathematics

Annabelle’s passion for music brought her to the international stage. In 2022, she won the third prize at the International Classical Music Competition of the Vienna Classical Music Academy held in Konzerthaus, Vienna, Austria.

In 2023, Annabelle performed at the “Chopin” Art Festival held at the Polish Museum in Chicago, Poland, and then finished second in the Virtuoso International Music Competition in the United States. That same year, she was honored to perform at the winner’s concert at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Her achievements did not stop at the piano. In mathematics, Annabelle’s dedication has been recognized on the national stage. In 2024, she received the Maryam Mirzakhani Certificate of Excellence in the American Mathematics Competition 8 and was included in the National Honor List of the AMC 8 Competition.

Recently, Annabelle has achieved perfect results in AMC 8, pushing her to the next level in AMC. As she plans to take the US Invitational Math Exam, she continues to push the boundaries of her academic potential.

Despite her many praises, Annabelle is committed to balancing these demanding pursuits with her education. She believes that Utah Online School provides the structure and support necessary to succeed in academic and extracurricular activities.

Why Utah Online Schools Work for Annabelle

For Annabelle, UOS not only provides the ability to complete courses at home. The flexibility of the online school allows her to attend multiple university-level courses while participating in events across the globe.

Through a simultaneous admission partnership with Utah Tech, Annabell has completed four college courses including college algebra, statistics, trigonometry, and computer programming, each earning a direct A. This allowed her to maintain the highest ranking in her class while she was in higher education.

But she didn’t do it alone.

I love UOS because the teacher is very supportive and I feel you can get more personal attention and help here. I think UOS teachers are more concerned.

“I like UOS because the teachers are very supportive and I feel you can get more personal attention and help here,” she said. “I think UOS teachers care more.”

When she finished her high school education, Annabelle was expected to complete a total of 13 concurrent courses. This academic advancement, coupled with her extracurricular success, demonstrates the power of personalized, flexible education.

Manage heavy schedules

Most people will find Annabelle’s schedule a bit tough, but she learned to manage it with the help of UOS.

“Sometimes multitasking can be overwhelming,” Annabelle admitted. In the fall of 2024, she attended three college math and computer science courses with her high school physics course. It seems not enough, she also participated in the American Mathematics Competition 10 and recorded some piano works for the international piano competition.

“I felt exhausted with such a tough activity within one semester, but I’m glad I was able to manage the activities well and did everything as planned.”

Her ability to handle multiple responsibilities immediately demonstrates UOS’s adaptability and time management skills that help students develop. For talented students with multiple interests, UOS provides an education that is both rigorous and supportive, allowing students to pursue their passion while achieving academic achievement.
